IN DEPTH:
In this chaotic information economy, a singular snippet or small detail, can offer a greater truth than an entire warehouse of data. Of course the challenge of such a quest is developing a methodology to parse through the labyrinth of available resources, fictions, dead-ends and possible insights.
The Ace of Swords shows a two hands appearing from the darkness, inquisitively holding out a photograph. There appears to be a hole in the photo, which correlates to the bright circle in the upper left corner. The photograph is a tight cropping of statue victoriously holding up a sword. Perhaps this is the ‘missing-piece’. For this investigator the sword holds a key, a gesture and declaration of ‘cutting’ through confusion and uncertainty. The image in question is absent many details and the long trail of ephemera that piles up along the pursuit of complicated queries.
How does one arrive at these types of ‘ah-ha’ moment? The path is often unclear, and sometimes dark and pained. What kind of emotional mania inspires the quest to answer something that appears unanswerable? For some it is drive to right a wrong, to strive towards greater understanding, for other it can become an unhinged need to be vindicated or absolved. Regardless, this card indicates an influx of fresh emotional and intellectual energy. The careful hands at the center of the Ace of Swords remind us to handle received information with solemnity and caution—lest we allow it to unfurl into a web of unchecked bias, conspiracy and paranoia.
When we exercise self-awareness and intellectual scrutiny, this sword reaches up towards the heavens. This valiant upwards reach, points to questions and intellectual instincts that are in direct dialogue with something much greater than anyone person. However where one is flagrantly ‘out of touch’ with one’s inner-self and formative wounds, this same sword takes aim back into our immediate life-world, brewing strife, resentment and personal conflicts. Nevertheless, wherever we are presented with the Ace of Swords, we are likely to encounter serendipitous insights, unprovoked epiphanies and the healing illumination of that which festers in the dark.

“It (sic) is not easy. It has turned into a viral conspiracy theory purporting to expose something no one ever attempted to hide, most of which is not really happening anyway, some of which actually should.”
