She is checking in, to see what is being said—not just about her, but about the issues she cares about. She reads aloud a review of her recent book of essays, and the tarot repeats the occasional set of words back to her. The parrot gets her’ hyped’ about the positive reception that her book is getting.
She appears to be living an impossible ideal. She has found a path to a luxuriant lifestyle that somehow doesn’t cut others down, or compromise on her ethics.
