KEEP SCROLLING DOWN FOR IN DEPTH EXPLANATION

In the Seven of Pentacles, a (an urban) farmer crouches next to her crop. She gazes down, analyzing the qualities of this abundant blossom. She has worked many seasons to nurture tiny seeds into a thriving garden, and she takes this brief moment for herself, just to feel her breath and feel the sun on her back. She reaches into the bushes and plucks a fruit. Looking around she feels the victory that this harvest represents, and yet her aching joints cast a strange sadness over the the well tended land. Her exhaustion leaves her without the energy to enjoy such an accomplishment. Her mind is wrought with ‘to-do-lists’. Take care not to over-exert yourself. The Seven of pentacles is a reminder to balance one’s work with commensurate rest and leisure.

“Equally, to strive for leisure as an alternative to work would be considered a complete misunderstanding of one of the basic truths of human existence, namely that work and leisure are complementary parts of the same living process and cannot be separated without destroying the joy of work and the bliss of leisure.”
