IN DEPTH:
The Eight of Pentacles shows a young woman mixing the colors for a series of eight painted pentacles. She carefully maps out the star shape in each circle, and places a set of possible brush strokes. Then, she ‘lets the painting show her the way’. She is still a student, but her work is captivating, it is exudes inner wisdom about self-love and trusting one’s creative and aesthetic impulses. Her attention to detail is like a magical spell, which enchants the painting.
In the background, her small studio apartment seems to disappear into infinity as she falls deeper into the trance of the painting. She is immersed, and has surrounded herself with everything she could possibly need. She looses herself in focus, and improves her skills and methods exponentially as the time passes.
It’s a repetitive process but it has a transcendental rhythm and she loves every precise moment of it. She loves it so much sometimes she feels caught in a perpetual loop of loving the way painting makes her feel. The Eight of Pentacles wants to remind us of the romantic intimacy between a creator and their creation.
